    [Food Friday] Pokemon Cup Noodle

My New Year resolution is that I will try to make my blog more active. I will be trying to do a Food Friday for a trial. Anything to do with food, I will blog here. Since Chinese New Year is around the corner, I will be scheduling a few Food Friday post so do stay tune.

For the first Food Friday post, I have done a video of my review for Pokemon Cup Noodle.

I bought this from Isetan Supermarket at West Gate, I do not see this in supermarket elsewhere yet. So if you would like to try this cup noodle, I believed you can only buy them from Isetan Supermarket.

I really love Japanese cup noodle because it always taste so well. Initially I did not have high expectation because the packaging is pretty and pretty things in Singapore does not taste good. However, this cup noodle taste good. It is soya sauce flavoured, the flavour is in the cup noodle itself and one do not need to do anything accept adding water to the noodle. I love the taste and the looks of it. I am a fan of pokemon though I stop watching after several series ago. The pikachu rice cake that is in the cup noodle is so kawaii.

However, I will not purchase it again unless there is a sale. This is because not only it is not easily accessible to purchase but it is small. Since it is pokemon theme cup noodle, I can only think that it is for kids. The portion is too small for me. I might need to eat 2 cups to be full and if I ever eat 2 cups, I could spend that amount to buy a full size Japanese cup noodle and still have spare money. Therefore as much as I love it, the price is too expensive for frequent purchase.

    [Review] Paris Baguette Cafe Takeaways

I was dizzy for the past few days. In case anyone wonder, nope I am not pregnant. Tested few days back and these are just the symptom of my pre-mensuration cycle. Ever since I screwed up my mensuration cycle, whenever it is going to come I will be in an extremely weak and bloated stage.

Back to my short review, I had a takeaway from Paris Baguette Cafe at JEM branch. For this review, I will only be reviewing on the food as I think it is not fair for me to review on the cafe design and service since I did not dine in.

Sorry if it looked misty as I store it in my fridge.

I like how the way the label their sandwiches.

Not sure why there is some Korea wording on the tape.

The Mini Croissant Family. (It is just as mini as it looks)

The Mini croissant sandwich family consist of two ham and cheese croissants and an egg and bacon croissant

Saw this on the way I was paying. It was my favourite type of bread.

Guessed it? Walnut Cream Cheese Bread!!

    Total Damage: S$9.90

    Review
It was quite a high price cafe despite locating at a heartland mall. I tried it due to my curiosity but the taste was not as fantastic as the price. Let’s start with the mini croissant family, I was quite surprise how the ham and cheese tasted. I thought it would taste awful because I saw the stalk of veggie coming out but to my surprise, it taste great. It is unlike those typical ham and cheese croissant whereby it is just salty but there is a tingly flavour of freshness inside which i believed came from the veggie. However, I do not like the egg and bacon croissant. The ham and egg croissant taste great so I was hoping that the egg and bacon one taste great too but the taste was disappointing. I find it too bland and lack of savoury taste.

Next I bought my favourite Walnut Cream Cheese Bread. It was awful. I expected more creamy taste in it but it didn’t reach that kind of creaminess. There is a strong stench of oil in the walnut like when the walnut is kept for too long. Not to mentioned it cost much more than the others which is cheaper.

Sunday double food review [Poulet and Auswine]

My niece is finally back to Malaysia. Just what Joice told me, the whole Singapore seems to quieten down. Life is back to just 2 couples boring life. Like most Sunday, I really just want to relax and just do nothing at all. Sometimes lazing on bed is just so good. Kk and I woke up later so we had out brutch.

We head out to Poulet. They just opened their new branch at Jurong Point. Kk and me actually had its main course before but they fail to impress us the previous time but still decided to try again. Since we do not want to have its main course again. We ordered

Can’t remember the exact name but it is a Tuna Sandwich.

Long Black and English Breakfast Tea

Smith chicken and egg mayo sandwich

Honestly, this is the first time I ate such a crispy croissant. The sandwiches that are used for Kk’s and mine are the same. The taste is perfect with the respective fillings. I can’t really review Kk’s part because I only had one bite. Kk’s tuna sanwich was nice. I guess the Croissant add a lot of the marks to it. As for my sandwich, I do feel that the egg mayo could have more mayo or seasoning as it was quite bland but the chicken filling with the sandwich managed to bring the flavour out. It taste more like a chicken sandwich then an egg mayo chicken sandwich. In addition, my food portion is big for me though I still manage to finish it. At least Kk and me will still go back for another visit. Maybe some day we will give another chance for its main course again. Or maybe poulet has good main course for steak but not the chicken or duck meat.

After lunch, we watch the Wolverine. Hugh Jackman’s body is so so so attractive. I was asking Kk if he could train till such a body. 😛 Since it is a blockbuster so it was quite a great movie. Though I was quite shocked that the Japanese who Wolverine saved during WWII attempted to kill him to get his immortality. Though I expected that the ending and also expected that they will show a preview of the next Marvel movie.

Went back home and decided to try the Magnum I bought…

Can you believe it? It is pink!! Magnum Pink (Marc De Champagne)

The taste was quite special. The chocolate crust still taste pretty much the same. However, the ice cream has a slight hint of champagne in it. It is not overwhelming.

Slack at home till night. Decided to have something different for dinner. Joice, 2nd brother, Kk and me went to Farm Mart. This is the second time there and the first time to Auswine. I swear once you are at the door of the restaurant, you are already drooling already.

The details of this restaurant as below:

In case u wonder, this is just plain water. 😛

Soup of the day (I believe is cream of chicken)

Kk ordered this. I swear the meat is just juicy and so delicious~

Kk’s brother ordered this. Dory fish with prawn. Delicious~

How can we forget about wine. Seriously this is the first official time I had wine with dinner.

How can we forget the pork knuckle?? I can only say you have to eat it to believe how good it is.

It is bigger than my fist.

I ordered this. Baked scallop with Hollandaise sauce.

This is the wine we ordered~

The bill~ It cost S$136.60 for 4 of us with wine. Talking about how cheap wine and dine place.

Even when blogging about this, my mouth is filled with saliva!!

Let’s start with the soup. It was quite good though I wouldn’t say it is the best but I will still say it is better than average.

Next is the chicken. I love the grilled chicken, it is grilled so well, slightly crispy on the skin, tender and juicy meat and super delicious flavours. Really very very delicious.

Then the dory fish is fresh, I almost feel the fishy taste but no it was the fish taste, the taste of the sea, the meat is tender and when you put in your mouth, it melts there. I did not have the prawn so I can’t comment on the taste.

Next is the pork knuckle. This is really the star main dish everyone must try if u like pork. The skin is so crispy and the oil under the skin taste so nice. The meat is so juicy and with the sauce, it just taste perfect. This is the first time I have eaten such a pork knuckles. But the portion is big, 4 of us shared this and only managed to force ourselves finish because it is just so delicious.

The baked scallop with Hollandaise sauce is good on the first taste but become slightly oily after the first one. It might be because I ate it after it is not so warm. However, the scallop is really very fresh. I was kinda of preparing for a not so good scallop but it turned out to be very delicious~

The wine Moscato d’Ast is something I like. Slightly sweet and aromatic~ But I think it might taste better with dessert. 🙂

This Auswine is definitely a great restaurant out of nowhere. It is really inconvenience to go there but it is also because of its location, it is really a great place to chill but try to go earlier as parking is quite a problem there.

[Review] Merely Ice cream – Not the normal ice cream shop

Image taken from their facebook. (As I was drafting this entry while waiting for Kk last Monday)

I don’t think I should blog this entry since I am supposed to be dieting and ice cream is sure a no no but I decided to blog it because it is just too delicious. Kk who is not a fan of dessert love their ice cream too.

I always try to resist their ice cream while walking past their shop at sunshine plaza along Bencoolen Street. (You can’t blame me because I am slimming)  It is like so hard especially if they happen to have my salted butter-scout ice cream.

I don’t really know the bosses of the shop but apparently they are sick of desk bound job and venturing into the ice cream business without knowing how to even cook before doing this. They are really 3 very interesting people, they have an unconventional blog here. I have give them thumbs up for their hard work and creativity so if you passed by there, do give them a try. I think they also have alcoholic ice cream but I have yet to try before.

This is my first try. 2 scope of ice cream (salted butter-scout ice cream+dark chocolate)

I totally in love with the salted butter-scout ice cream because I really love salty stuff and this ice cream really bring out the special unique taste of butter-scout without any funny taste. However, the chocolate ice-cream seems to be less tasty when eaten together because I find that the butter-scout flavour seems to cover its gentle dark chocolate taste.

This is my second try. 2 scope of ice cream (red velvet cake+oreo cream ice cream)

I was sad when I did not see my favourite salted butter-scout ice cream. The red velvet cake is a limited edition favour, it is unique and feels more like eating a smooth texture cake than ice cream and the oreo cream is confirm my 2nd favourite favour of this ice cream shop. It is creamy without having the disgusting feel when u eat creamy things and yet it has some oreo biscuit bits. I assure you it is not those normal cookie and cream type of ice cream where the taste is so artificial. I ate with Kk this time round and he loves it too.

My 3rd try (Gula Pandan+salted butter-scout ice cream)

I ate this last Monday while waiting for Kk to finish his meeting. I wanted to get the oreo cream with salted butter-scout ice cream but I figure out it will be too fattening for me. The Gula Pandan is a mixture of melon and pandan cake. You did not hear me wrong, it is pandan cake!! Who would ever thing of adding pandan cake to ice cream? But it taste quite nice. The pandan cake they use also seems to be of a better quality type because the colour of the cake is less green.

    Conclusion

I shall give them ★★★★★ for their awesome ice cream but maybe a small advise is they could recommend the ice cream and make the testing of ice cream be more comfortable. Other than that they are just the prefect dessert shop I recommend.

Being a really innovative shop, they also have their QR code which will directly link you to their facebook page.

Eating Hagen Daz or Anderson Ice Cream is too common? Try them, they will rock your taste buds and don’t be afraid to try their unique favoured ice cream, it still taste very nice with those unconventional ingredients.

PS: I am not paid or invited to do this review but they are just too great not to blog about them. Though it is not easily accessible to many people but they are definitely worth your effort to try them
