[Slimming] Week 1 and 2

Basically, I just signed to a gym with my cousin, Fiona with Fitness First. I was able to get corporate rate because I was a student of Kaplan. Talking about the one and only advantage of being a student there. As now my current project is finishing and I am schooling 2 times instead of 3 times in my last few term, I decided to tackle my next problem in my life which is my weight. I guess I have said n times that I want to lose weight but it never worked at all. (Refer to thisthis and this)

I have always liked Japanese fashion since I was young. My love for Japanese style definitely will not lose to Cheesie. But ever since the Japanese earthquake, Kk disallowed me to go partially he don’t love Japanese raw food. (He like the cooked part though) and secondly he foresee that his wealth will be depreciate by me. (I usually only spend my own saving when it comes to shopping)

Therefore Japanese food, fashion and beauty product seems to be the only thing I can link myself with my favourite japan. I had a bet with him that if I can slim to 49kg from 76kg now, he will be covering 75% of my Japanese clothing. Given my high failure rate in slimming, I guess Kk already given up that I could look like this slim below:

I just happen to talk to Fiona that I am looking for a gym but amore seems too expensive for me. They cost a whopping amount of S$169!! Imagine Fitness First normal all gym membership cost S$150+. I decided to brainwash her to try Fitness First exercising with me. Hohoho… So I signed on Tues and she signed on Fri and went there 4 times for the week 1 of the exercise.

First time at the this fitness first gym. It is a 3 storey gym at Fusionopolis. The pool sure look great and since there is not much people using it, I presume it should be quite clean.

By the end of week 1, I decided I need a bit of direction and found Faye blog. I did a modified version of her post to motivate myself slim down here.

Week 2 is coming to an end and I don’t think there will be much changes so I decided to blog here. I give in to ice cream just 2nd day of week 2 because I was waiting for Kk  after the end of my lesson and his staff want to go back so I had no choice but to hide in the ice cream shop till the meeting ended.

Then Tuesday was Kk’s birthday so I already told Fiona that I am not going to gym.

I was sick from Wed till today. I have still try to force myself to take breakfast since I couldn’t take medicine if I don’t take food. Appetite is really bad and even typing this post and the previous Kk’s birthday post in a dizzy mode. If there is really very serious typo and language error pls do not laugh at me. These 2 post are written while forcing myself not to sleep and wait for my laundry bec I sweat so much that all my home clothing are soaked and I need to hand them because going into my coma mode which will happen anytime.

My tonsil and Uvula are so swollen that it is affecting my sleep already and my medicine is finishing up. Since I couldn’t sleep well, my fever is on and off and so is my headache and dizziness.  If I still don’t recover tonight, Kk is going to bring me for another round of doctor. He said doctor is going to give me a jab!! I really don’t want it to happen because I hate injection. T^T


Getting my idea weight

Decided to also blog on fitness. Recently read a few blogs on losing weights, I like reading Faye and Clarie’s blog.

This time round, my cousin will be gyming with me so I just can’t say I want to quit anytime. I decided to keep my slimming plan off my facebook to prevent people from bitching about my numerous slimming failure. I am not hiding it at any other place than my facebook as I hope to use this blog to also keep track of my slimming journey.

All the steps taken from Faye’s post about getting your idea weight. I will add in my thinking on her steps to try to cater for my own slimming plan.

Step 1: Prep your brain

Must change the attitude that is causing my repeated failed slimming. My motivation to slimming is to fit in M size clothing so to achieve this I plan to exercise at least 2 – 3 times a week and also have breakfast daily. (I read online that it is important to have breakfast for slimming to increase metabolism rate)

Previous failure is always lack of discipline to go to gym. If I were to miss my gym due to whatever reason, I must compensate by doing 100x of crutches, walk up the stairs and no tidbits for that week.

Step 2: Keep a dairy

I will use my Kikki.K notebook that I bought last month. I have note down some healthy slimming tips as well as things to avoid during slimming. I will do a weekly slimming entry to keep track of myself.

Step 3: Look at what to eat

I should do the following:

  • cutting down fast/junk food. (No more MacDonald and KFC)
  • eat the healthier stuff such as fruits and vegetables, whole grains, lean protein and replace sugary cereals with high fibre ones.

Instead of giving a treat once a week (as advised in the post), I shall give myself a treat once a month if I were to able to be good and exercise. I don’t think it is good for me to give a treat to myself weekly as I think it will only cause my over-eating.

I just love junk food and unless I am willing to give up. No one can stopped me because I will get angry with anyone refuse to let me eat the junk food.

Step 4: Learn how much to eat

*Remember, you don’t necessarily have to finish the food on my plate. (It’s okay to waste food!!) Eat to fulfill your hunger, not until you’re too full.

Step 5: Teach yourself when to stop

Spend at least 15 minutes on every meal. Take small bites, chew them completely and pause between mouthfuls to see how full you are. Give your stomach a chance to tell your brain it’s had enough. Maybe can eat before I am super hungry and try eating with my left hand.

Step 6: Eat Breakfast

I must eat within two hours of waking up, if not my metabolism will slows to conserve energy. I will try to eat with my corn flakes and chocolate milk with one cup of Marigold Yogurt. (That’s the only Yogurt in my fridge)

Step 7: Beware of your drink

I must avoid drinking soda and coke. Shall replace green tea or milk with it. (It is possible to get 800 calories a day just from drinking soda.) I personally don’t take alcohol so it doesn’t affect me at all. :)

Step 8: Get Active

Start slowly. Work out for 10-20 minutes three times a week, then tack on five minutes every week. Work up to 45-60 minutes of biking, speed-walking, running, aerobics or another cardiovascular exercise five to seven days a week. Once my cardio becomes a routine, add two 20 minute sessions of strength training (weights) per week.

Step 9: Don’t Stop eating

Never stop eating to cut down calories, it will make my body to starvation mode. This will result that my metabolism to slow by 20%. I will have a nice dessert once in a month. I will start by reducing the sweet and salty intake as it will leads to binges or burnout. No food should be completely off limits.

Step 10: Be forgiving and keep at it

Women who lose weight and stay slim are the ones who continue to exercise regularly for a long time after they’ve lose their weight. If I have to take unhealthy food, just take it but restrict the food intake next meal not next day.

This are the points that I will remind myself of, I shall continue to read Faye’s blog to learn from her good habits and successful plus healthy slimming methods. All the steps taken from her blog entries that I link earlier. I will use her as my inspiration to lose weight in a healthy way.


I think I

This is a very scary phrase, I think I… There is many possibility but I think kk now want to hear is “I think I am pregnant” from me. Well… Many aunties and relative have been showing their care and concern but seriously, it is getting tiring for me to entertain them. Please whether or not I pregnant or not really doesn’t concern them at all, it is just the same as whether I am getting married. Will you be taking care of my expenses of wedding or my pregnancy? If no, why do you need to be so kpo?? If u see me posting I am pregnant means I am pregnant la… I am very open to my blogs and twitter.

But today I actually want to say, “I think I need to slim down” I have many failed slimming plan like this, this and this. I think everyone out there is sick of me saying this. I am also sick of it and I start to really don’t want to go diet. I let my weight continue to increase until I am now 76kg.

I am not afraid to let anyone know, I am 76kg!! My hubby, kk is only 73kg! Imagine I am still 3 more kg more than him. Does it sounds like I really need slimming?? I think so too. I cannot run away from it. It was not my piority till recently I start to feel tired easily. I also start to feel that my irregular menses is because of my weight gain. And really, it is!!

I was watching 今晚誰當家 (Who’s home) episode on 拯救胖子明星今晚診所 (2012-08-31). I have summarised some of the health issue cause by overweight as well as the solution in every episode.

Part 1

Nothing much was said, just talk about the guest experience on rejection for being fat.


Part 2

Point to note for slimming:
TCM
- If you have lots of gastric in your stomach, you absorb more nutrition and will cause you to always feel hungry will will also cause overeating when one start to eat.
- Heaty liver is caused by late night sleep and this will cause slow digestion and to cure it one must eat slower and sleep earlier
- If you are previously a sportsman, do watch out to reduce your intensity of exercise gradually. If not you eat the same and no exercise, it will be muscle to fats. For example to reduce gradually, do exercise for 1 hour/day and take a bath later to relax. (It is am example if one used to train for 3 hours/day)
- Being fat will also cause breathless even a small movement

Western Doctors
- Based on research, If you sleep less than 6 hours per day, you will get fat by 5.7kg!!
- Watch what you eat, doesn’t mean you don’t eat fatty food, one will still get fat. Don’t ever eat carbohydrate food.
- Liposuction is not a method of slimming. It is only a method of scripting your body shape. (bec if u eat more after liposuction, one will become even fatter.)
- Being too fat is bad for your inner organ


Part 3

TCM
- Being breatheless easily will have high chance of myocardial infarction (心肌梗塞)
- Avoid buying food that your like
- Avoid eating too sweet as it will cause burden to heart
- Can eat American ginseng(粉光参)and Japan ginseng(东洋参)to improve on the heart circulation
- Highlight the importance to sleep early if not there will be problems in kidney.
- If you hear “wong wong” sound, must sleep earlier because it is due to weak kidney
- If you sleep late and u have fatty liver, it will cause liver hardening
- Heaty gather near his head, high chance of stroke
- Eat more fruits and eat light

Western Doctors
- Myocardial infarction is cause due to high fats in your blood will lead to Arteriosclerosis (动脉硬化) and if u get stuck in your heart then it will be myocardial infarction.
- Don’t eat leftover, if you cannot finish then don’t eat.


Part 4

TCM
- Also agree that slimming will increase the chance of pregnancy and also higher risk of miscarriage
- Just loose a 10kg will get higher risk of pregnancy

Western Doctors
-If you are become too fat SUDDENLY and mense is irregular, there is a chance to get Polycystic ovary (多囊性卵巢). It will cause infertile.
- Increase the time of standing and swimming if you are too fat


Part 5
TCM
- if you over-eat one meal, eat lesser the next meal to balance out the input.

Western Doctors
- Sleep at least 6 – 8 hours/day if sleeping on time is hard.
- Sleep more than 8 hours will cause overweight
- Must have determination
- Slogan for losing weigh is shake head, close mouth and stand up. (When people give u food, shake head. If you want to eat fatty food, close your mouth. And increase the standing time)

I will be starting my slimming routine soon, now I am also reading Claire Audrey Lim’s blog. In case you don’t know her, she is a legend to lose from 90kg to 40kg!! She bring me some hope in slimming down to 49kg. I really want to wear those Japanese clothing. I decided to blog instead of telling everyone of my slimming programme, many make me lose hope by reminding me of my failure. If I am successful, I will wear Bikini to the beach. Honestly, I have never owned a bikini. Jia you le!!


[Review] Orbis Petit shake (Peach)

If you read Taiwan or Japanee magazine, you should be familiar with Orbis. This brand has the same concept as DHC and Fancl. In Taiwan and Japan, they are known as the big 3 for the mail order for beauty product. They each are similar yet different. Fancl is famous for its “no preservative” and DHC is famous for its “Olive Oil” product that is moisturising. Orbis is actually somewhere in the middle, for people like me who do not stick to a single brand of product, with Fancl product life span is just too short for me, whereas DHC seems to be great in their olive oil based. I personally used to use their cleansing oil and soap before blogging here. I have to admit I love the texture but sometimes I feel the soap can be a bit too strong and the cleansing oil seems messy when removing eye makeup. Orbis seems to be somewhere in between. I will do a review on their skincare next time but now I shall do a review on Orbis Petit shake (Peach).

This petit shake (Peach) consist of 7 packets of 100g syrup.

How to drink this drink:

 Step 1: Pour the syrup from the packet into your cup.

 *Do notice there is some peach fruit pulp inside the syrup.

 Step 2: Add the milk. It must be cold!! (Refer to my review for the reason)

 Tada!~ The final product. I added a bit too much of milk so dun really have the smoothies feel.

Review
I love trying meal replacement from Japan, they always spend a lot of effort with the flavouring so the taste is always great unlike local slimming drinks. In general, this smoothie taste alright, it is not as fantastic as the smoothie outside but it does not taste awful too.However, I am still wondering is it because the milk (I used HL milk) that I am using is not suitable for smoothie because the milk kinda of also have its own taste.Therefore, the taste seems to be funny but it is not awful.

Towards the end of the smoothie, I felt full which they succeed in their function as meal replacement drink but at the same time there is a disgusted tasting also came out due to the thick remaining base. It is most likely cause because it is not cold anymore so it feels like drinking something very thick at the bottom, make it disgusting. I must highlight it is not the taste which is disgusting but the sensation when drinking it.

I am not sure if I will re-purchase this product. I will try again with other milk to see if it taste different or not. I also purchase the mix berry flavour which might taste better in my view. I will review it once I tried them.

Doctor’s help in slimming~

I should be blogging the NAPBA but that will kinda of need more time for me to edit the photos as the camera was with kk and I just got from him. Hence, decided to post something lighter and shorter. I finally decided to seek medical help to my weight reduction. I have been quite despo in reducing my weight because I am going to have my wedding shot June next year which is about 6 months. Kk held a small hope that I would slim down till the time he know me. I did not force me but he is evil. He will not stop me from eating but he will make me guilty after eating the fatty food.

So u can imagine how well Kk fed me this 5 years.It seems extremely hard for me to slim, I often wonder even if I just breathe I will still grow fat. But as human, I can’t stop breathing right? I must highlight that I am kinda of reluctant to take any form of slimming pills but time is running low for me and exercise really dun work for me. Somehow my knee will hurt if I run too long, I guess it might be I have grown too fat. While feeling upset that I couldn’t slim down, Pei Wen recommend me one doctor. She told me that her brother’s sister’s colleague tried and slim. Plus there is not re-bounce. Since I am out of time and method, I was thinking why not?

In addition to that, the doctor ask me to eat only when I am hungry. He said one of the medicine will make u feel full and not easily hungry. He also advise me to chew more and not just swallow my food after a few bites. He discourage the drinking of cold water saying and preserved food as he said it will cause slower digestion. He also said no exercise needed but walk more. This is the first time I heard someone who told me that I don’t need to exercise just simple acitivity will do.

I will try to follow as much as possible. Hope this works~ I am running short of time. :(
